HAPPY NEW YEAR BUZ!!!!
Gary28-Dec-2016 17:56
Thanks, Buz.
No, our Christmas was spent dealing with the Flu. Both my Wife and I came down with it, with in hours of each other. It' been snowing and as soon as I can get up enough energy I'll have to dig out my truck and clean our driveway. Bills need to be paid and mailed.

An early Christmas wish to you and your Family, and a healthy New Year....

Many thanks Buz, these Moose are the first we have spotted in quite some time. The last Moose to inhabit the Valley was poached and left to rot. There has been rash of shooting/poaching incidents this past year and the powers to be believe it is being done by a group of teens, but have yet to get solid evidence on them. According to the local paper any way...

Thanks, Buz.
I wish I could be at the Park now. I visited the park briefly in 1968 when I was attending a trade school in Denver. The visit was way to short, the rugged beauty of the Park is awe-inspiring.

Outstanding work Buz. I am from Arkansas and people tell me your Cades Cove is very similar to our Boxley Valley, a part of the Buffalo National River. Love your work, and love it that you do black and white. Nice moody landscapes. I also love William Blake. I think the essence of what we do reflects the mystery of nature. You capture that.

I just spent time looking at several of your amazing galleries. You have beautiful work! I noticed that you have the 70-200mm lens which is my favorite lens, however, I am having intermittent issues with it not autofocusing and was wondering if you have run into this problem at all with your 70-200. I have sent it back to Nikon and they cleaned the contacts but could find nothing else wrong with it. Any ideas? Thanks so much. I am amazed that I have not seen your work before today. You are now in my favorites!

Buz, you are certainly The Master photographer, and viewing your images is a great learning experience.

Morning Buz,
Yes, the Doe did turn an ordinary image into an exciting image by virtue of her act of fleeing from impending danger, me. Now that brings up another age old drama, Fight or Flight, in her case to protect her fawn. How deep does the Mother's love for her fawn run, or, does her instinct for self preservation supersede her parental duties and flee impending danger? In her case, she fled the scene, and left her fawn on it' own...

Hi Buz,
I am looking for some Smoky Mountain photos. I love your Cades Cove Methodist Church, Park Road near Crib Gap and White Oak on a Snowy day. What I am looking for is the same location photographed in all 4 different seasons. Do you have anything like that?
I am anxious to hear from you.

Thanks Buz for the nice comments on my "smoky" images...LOL
Yes, it has been one of the worst fire seasons in our area for quite some time. The valley has been filled with smoke all summer. Working out doors has been limited at best. We decided to take some time away from here and visit Yellowstone and adjacent Teton Park. What a laugh the Parks were filled with smoke as well which was too bad, because the colors were very nice...

Hi Buzz,
While web searching for photo sites in the Smokies I came upon your site. I often shoot nature photography here in Pennsylvania. It's very clear that you not only love the awesome beauty of creation but also skilled and passionate way of helping us to "see" it. I hope to get there soon and enjoy the beauty you've shown. Blessings, Greg

Hi Buz,
Thank you so much for the kind words and the vote - really appreciate it a lot.
Looked over your galleries and it is such a welcome treat to see Nature captured with such passion. We are all truly blessed with this amazing world that we live in. I just wish more people would realize that sometimes the simple things in life can give a person the peace and quiet one needs to rejuvenate from the hectic lives most of us have. You are so lucky to be able to live in a place where nature abounds.
Guest 12-Mar-2008 15:48
Morning Buz,
Thanks for the nice comment on my mallard image and I appreciate your vote..
The marsh area has been a veritable treasure for ducks this spring, now that the flights are beginning to arrive. I wanted to put up a blind but the new manager said no. She has all these new regulations in place and makes it nearly impossible to get any nice close ups of the ducks and animals. She has all these Eastern ideas that just well not work out here, but at least she is trying to improve the Refuge...
Gina B. 07-Mar-2008 19:35
Hey Buz,
I'm still looking at all the images you took though out the years. I can't stop going back and looking. I have saved several of them to my favorites.
Just to know someone like you...who really knows how to take an awesome picture is a huge honor! But, then again just knowing you and Elaine is an honor in itself! I love the fact that almost every image you took has to do with nature. I know I already told you all this, but I wanted you to have it in black and white!
Take care and where ever you go or what ever you do...stay safe!!
Love, Gina

Buz,
I guess I just have to get my lazy butt out of bed earlier and get up to the park before you take all the best images. Woops! Too late. You've done that already! Outstanding as always.

I want to know how you get all the good wildlife shots. I never see wolves much less photograph them. I must be going to the wrong part of the park.
Keep it up.

Thanks Buz for your nice comment on my scenic...
Yes, this area abounds with the history of Lewis and Clark, but the towm, my home town, Stevensville, is known as the first town in Montana, and the St Mary's mission was established here in the early 1800's. The Bitterroot Valley was used by the many Indian tribes for travel and hunting....

Morning Buz, On my way home from visiting my Son this past weekend, I like to take this back road, I spotted a flock of turkies and just happened to get some images of the Toms strutting their stuff. I like your image very much with the way the light in shinning on them. It was an overcast day so there was very little light on the Toms I took. I've always enjoyed watching them court the Hens.
My Son is feeling the affects of his new treatments and is very tired and sick to his stomac. The doctors are not holding out much hope, they said that when Jake first reported his illness, two years ago, the cansor was all ready at stage four and beginning to to spread to his organs. I'm a fighter Buz, I always have been, it is really tough to see that my Son has given up. I had a long talk with him and all I managed to do was get him mad at me.
Guest 29-Mar-2006 00:30
Thanks Buz for all your nice comments, I was really shocked when I first spotted this camel and his two buddies. I never heard of them being in Montana. I knew that in the lake 1800's they had imported them into the Soutwest...

Buz, thank you for your comment on my "buzzard" pic. Your comment made me wonder so I did some homework. The common buzzard or eurasian buzzard (buzzard for short) is spread across Europe and Northern Asia. I will add a link of a dutch birding site with some pictures of buzzards on it. You can copy and paste this link on to your browser

Buz. Thanks for the visit. In this case no permanent damage but in 2000 we had millions of Rands damage. This spesific bridge was washed away and rebuild as well as 2 or 3 camps + damage to a lot of permanent structures. Bungalows etc were washed away. Stoves, beds, tents etc. coming down the river. This was more a flood from rain higher up and this was just the shortest route for the water to the sea at mozambique.
These images was taken on the Friday and by Sunday morning the bridge was reopened.

Thanks for your comment on the Fort Niagara gallery. I went there monday morning at 10:00 and stayed until noon and had the entire place to myself. The only other people there were the 2 ladies working in the ticket booth and store. It was nice not to have to shoot around people. It is only 11 miles from my house and Don Nieman had asked me to help his friend get a site on pbase started for the Fort. You can see the treatment they are giving it here :

Hi Buz, thanks for your comments on my pictures. I sure wish I could tell you what kind of flower that was. Best I can tell you is it is a wildflower. I've tried to identify it but have not had any luck so far. It is rather unusual, isn't it? I have been enjoying your pictures for quite some time now. Wonderful work!

Hi Buz. First of all apology for my very late reply. And thank you very much for visiting my still life gallery. I have to say I am actually experimenting with technique at the moment and may not have the answer you are looking for. However, painting with light give the image more depth and tends to capture the shadow in greater detail. While prolonged exposure may not actually produce similar result. In fact, I did improvised on the technique, kinda of a hit and miss. But with practice would hopefully master the skill a bit more. Thank you so much for your comments and vote.

It's a special kind of person that can take another of a million creek photos and turn it into something that captures you. Your photography is true art, and showcases all of the little things that so many people miss because they're too absorbed in the world as a whole. Thank you for sharing these with us :)
