Hi Bob: You have renewed my interest in photography. What great pictures!! Thought I'd browse your galleries for a little while, but the pictures are so beautiful, I've been at it for hours. Not only are you a great tour guide (smile) but a very gifted photographer. Hope we'll meet again...Jackie (from the Long Wharf Shuttle ride today).

Hello Bob! Can you email me directly at adkphoto@hotmail.com. I have a question to ask of you regarding the upcoming Boston Dragon Boat Festival this weekend. Look forward to hearing from you. THANKS!

Hi, Denise! The Greek parade was a lot of fun and well attended. Nice to hear from you :-0

Hi Bob:
thought I'd check out your new photos. Great Job! Love the men in black cassocks carrying the Madonna & Child icon in "Greek Festival" and the street mime with the roped headpiece in the first set of photos in "Street Performers". Your camera really captured the subtle color variations in her makeup and costuming. Hope to see you soon and see more of your work.

Hi Bob
You took a picture of a Wheaten Terrier Dressed as Santa on 19 Nov 2005, PB192945 ajpg it is in the group "In Box (137) dated 1 May 2006. The dog looks just like my daughter Donna's dog. She asked if it was possible and the cost to get a 4x6 copy. She would like to use it for a Xmas card. Sorry I missed Ken's party. Ken sent me the pictures you took. It looks like I missed a fun time, but it could not be helped.

Thank You

Thanks, Doreen! I'm not sure I'm responsible for the photo of your girlfriend and her children, as the 10 photos currently hanging in the coffee shop are the only ones that I've displayed there.
Doreen Papsadore 06-Apr-2006 18:19
Hi Bob, just want to comment on the great work that you do...I am sort of a regular at Mocha Java's and happened to look over on the wall one day and saw my girlfriend with her two children on a trampoline that you photographed...I thought it was greatest...will keep you in mind!

Hello! this is Natasha Kouri, one of the many statues you've photographed.

One of my friends noticed my picture hanging in the Mocha Java in Dedham, so I started googling Mocha Java photographers and came to you. I believe there's a picture of me in a long white dress blowing powder? Anyway, I love to see it if I could. I don't live in MA anymore, so a look-see at the coffeeshop isn't that easy.

Thanks, LKV! Oly makes very fine cameras :-)
Guest 06-Feb-2006 12:57
Wonderful pictures. These will keep me coming back again and again! Keep up the great work. I like the fact that you use the E300. It seems like so many people are shooting with a Canon or Nikon. Since I have an Olympus digicam, it makes it easier to upgrade to an Olympus SLR from looking at your results.
Bob Rhéaume20-Jan-2006 03:03
Thanks, Justin! I've been extremely well pleased with all of my Olympus digitals. Either the E-300 or E-500 are fine cameras, and the two-lens kits are exceptionally good values. The E-500 is the newer model and supposedly has improved metering and a better IR filter. The E-300 is less conventional looking and is a bit heavier with a more solid feel. Thanks for taking the time to view and comment :-)
Guest 20-Jan-2006 02:38
Hi Bob, you have a great set of galleries. I especially like the E-300 pics, I've been mulling over getting the E-500. Your site should be an ad for Olympus.
Bram de Mooij 10-Dec-2005 20:48
Hi Bob,

As a reaction to your comment on my galleries on dpreview, I did take a look at yours.
Think it is very interesting to see pics from in and around Boston.
So much different then Gouda :-)
I will come back later, for there is a lot to see.
Bob Rhéaume31-Oct-2005 13:25
Hi! I haven't had any problems with the E-300's jpegs, but I'm not one to subject my images to very close technical scrutiny. I'm a prolific shooter with a perennial backlog of pics to process, so the prospect of complicating my post processing with a move to raw holds little allure. Thanks for stopping by :-)

Bob
spectre31-Oct-2005 06:37
hello. i am much impressed with your result with the e-300. i recently bought one, grudgingly i must admit, to fill in for my suddenly dead c-8080 (which of course, died while on a trip). that is now back from oly service and working well, but i've become attached to the SLR thing now and i think i'm going to sell it. anyhow, i assume you shoot jpegs from your previous remarks? i have capture one and have been shooting raws mostly after reading about how terrible the jpeg images from this camera are. i must say your work is making me rethink it. raw is great, but a space hog and is time consuming.
Bob Rhéaume28-Oct-2005 11:36
Thanks! I've been using the camera's default settings for saturation, contrast and sharpness. After downsizing for Web, I usuall apply USM with amount between 175 and 190%, radius of .5, and threshold of 1. I only have the 14-45mm and 40-150mm lenses that came with the camera, and they're of pretty decent quality. I especially like the 40-150. The two-lens kit is a great deal!
Guest 28-Oct-2005 02:15
Hi Bob... very nice gallery. The images just jump out at you. I love those oly colors. You've conviced me to purchase the Oly E-500 2 lens kit. A few questions... Which lenses do you have and which are your favorite? What camera settings (sharpness and such)? Do you do any post processing? Give me some hints!!! ;)

Hi, Blackford! The faster lens of the 5050 is indeed an advantage, but it has other advantages over the 4000 as well. The 5050 is to the 4000 as a Lexus is to a Toyota or an Accura is to a Honda. It is wery well made and a joy to use and to hold. It allows you to use inexpensive and capacious CF cards, while still allowing you to use your legacy SM cards or the newer XD cards. I think it's an Oly classic, and I''m sure you'll like it if you liked the 4000! Best of luck with the new camera :-)

Bob
Blackford 19-Dec-2004 14:46
Happy Holidays Bob,

I have taken special attentions to your 5050z compositions (for obvious reasons meaning your eye as well as your technical proficiency with that Oly model) as I have one on the way in the mail. I sold my C-4000z with some regret but all in the name of progress. My logic is with a 1.8 lens better access to low light composition is afforded.(While that might be an obvious statement to you, I have been into photography for a year now and my only learning tool have been forums and the C-4000z. So it is easy to assume but I dare not about this or any other art.) If I need the capabilities of the C-4000 then just adjust the aperature and raise/lower the shutter speed and there you go. It would be nice to have a scale between the two that revealed say F11:1/300 (c4000z)= F9:1/50(c5050z) but enough of that lazy man's thought. I noticed that you are looking to upgrade your 5050z. That makes you ripe for questions, which you may choose to email as well: (Oh, I know you have or have had the 4040z,3030z, not the c-4000z; all 1.8 but any feedback will be appreciated)

As an owner of a 5050z are my extrapolations accurate as far as you know? And lastly, what limitations of the 5050z fostered your desire for upgrade?

I thank you in advance for your reply,

Blackford

Hi, Aunt Irene! I visited Boston's wonderul public rose garden in the Fens in early June, but I was foiled in my attempt to catch you some roses by both a locked gate and a sudden downpour :-( I hope to return in early September. In the interim, I do have a solitary pink rose on the first page of my "Transat" gallery. Sorry to disappoint!

Hi, Joanne! Thank you for the kind remarks about my pics. I'm only an avid amateur photographer who happens to live near Boston, and, regrettably, I can't help you with photos of your Dad. I'm fortunate that my own father is still around and will be 89 this month!
Joanne 13-Aug-2003 15:49
Bob,
I discovered your photos while searching for Haymarket, Boston Photos. Absolutely beautiful! I have a photo of my dad(now deceased) taken in the early 90;s and given to him by the photographer. He was a haymarket vendor (Happy John)sold only tomatoes and had a salt shaker and cut up tomatoes for people to sample. The photo is gorgeous and is very similar to one you took in Random Boston. I want to know if you are the photog of the photo of my dad and if you might have any more of him. I would appreciate it.

Truly beautiful pictures. I especially liked the shot which links to your May selections. Very reminiscent of the old Dutch masters. Great to see real photographs done with a digital camera. Hi, Dave! Thank you so much for taking the time to view and comment on my pics. The digital camera has really awakened my dormant and never realized interest in photography. It's a great hobby and a wonderful creative outlet for an aging Baby Boomer who hates to exercise but doesn't mind walking around for hours with a camera hanging around his neck :-) I spent a few short minutes (I'll be returning!) in your beautiful galleries and was quite impressed. I really envy both your West Coast sunsets and your D60! I loved the sunset surfer silhouettes, and I thought the Mission Viejo sunrise colors were unbelievable!

Very nice collection of images of the Massachusetts coast.
Great work. I was looking for some from Nantucket, one of my
favorite places. I live in Southern California but I'm a
transplant from New England. A few years on the North Shore,
Gloucester so I felt like I was almost home with your Salem
pix. Folks lived in Marblehead until they moved out here a
few years ago. Keep up the good work Bob, I'll check in from
time to time when I'm feeling homesick. Thanks for sharing.
If you get a chance check out some of my Southern California
sunsets and seascapes. Not the same as our beloved New England
but we try.
