I just wanted to let you know that the picture of the "Miracle Tile you took in Lithuania is wrong. The real Miracke tile has the word "Stebulka" printed on it.
so if your wish hasn't come true, it's because you were spinning on the wrong spot.
I would hate to see you steer other travelers wrong and wish you would rename the photo. I enjoy your photos immensely. Great , great shots of the city.

I enjoyed looking at your pictures of Riga, Latvia. I never imagined that the country looked like that. It could be a nice place to visit someday.

Thank you,

Hi Matthew

Your photographs of Mongolia really increase my anticipation to go there next summer! My plans are not totally clear yet. How long did you stay in Mongolia? How did you travel around? Did you rent a jeep or did you even took some inland flights? For mongolia is so huge and I'd like to visit the Northern/Central part as well as the Gobi-Region in the South... I've got about 2 months of time and for I know the roads are difficult, I wonder what's possible to see and do in this period of time..?!
Have you any special traveller's tips for me? Which region were the most beautiful / impressive / peaceful (whatever :-) )?

All the best to you
Christian - Switzerland

Simply stunning collection of photographs and astonished at the number of places you have visited and how you identified the key buildings and their historic significance there are so few sites with photo's of Macedonian towns and you have captured the place beautifully - I hope you also enjoyed your stay.

Dear Mathew Haswell,
I am writing to request your permission to use the 'Ladder of Divine Ascent' photograph (Sucevita, Romania).
I am doing a thesis on icons and your photograph is really great. If included, I will, of course, acknowledge you as the photographer. If any form of payment is required please specify amounts.
I look forward to your reply.
Kind wishes,
Mr. Protoklis Nicola.

Mirek,

Thanks for the compliments on the photos. I had to Google what a sangaku looked like, as I wasn't really familiar with them. I'm almost positive I've never taken any shots of one though. Sorry!

Matthew,
I have been going through your photos for hours. You did wonderful job presenting Japan. I love it. I would like to ask you one thing - perhaps during your trips and visiting temples you may have seen a sangaku. These are wooden tablets with old Japanese mathematical problems (wasan). Usually these are old geometry problems. I am fascinated with sangaku and old Japanese mathematics, but most of them I have seen only on poor drawings in some papers or books. Perhaps you have photos of sangaku in your collection?

Hi Matthew,

My grand father recently passed away and as I was browsing the net, I came across your Niigata/Shibata Japan pictures. It brought back so many memories of my grand father (he lived in Shibata). Thank you.

Top galleries, Matt. Nice to see Japan photographed well. It seems to be a bloody difficult place to photograph well -- I know that from my own efforts as well as the galleries on pbase, few of which are up to your standards. Keep 'em coming.
